Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly may be working double-time in training, but there’s no way he’s going to miss celebrating Father’s day with his family.
Kelly, a father himself, said that he will be spending the entire day with his father, Edwin, together with his family, as he looks to make it extra special for his old man.
“This Sunday, I’ll be treating them to a spa with my mother,” shared Kelly.
“Training has been intense because I want a good follow up to my last performance but I will make sure that on Sunday, it will be an extra special day for my father.”
Kelly, however, shared that their ‘celebration’ isn’t just bound on a single day.
“It’s fathers day everyday in our family. I always make sure to let my father know how grateful I am. We always go out when given a chance.
What makes the Kelly patriarch special is how he was able to set an example to his children on how to keep cool in a heated environment.
It’s particularly helpful, especially since Edward, and his older brother Eric, turned out to be martial artists by profession.
Such lessons are still being carried by the Kelly brothers today,
“He was a role model to us, in taking on life and poverty,” said Kelly.
“I am proud of my father because I remember no matter how big he is, he still keeps his cool during the times where he could have fought others, he always kept his composure,” he added.
For the 35-year old featherweight, he’s just thankful for his dad’s patience and guidance and he knows that he would not be in this position had it not for his father.
“For me, whether it’s Father’s day or not, we should always make our fathers feel that we love them and that they are really important to us.”
