Eagle Ridge showed that its pre-tournament hype was not a fluke after running away with the overall crown with a three-stroke victory over Tagaytay Midlands in the 2019 Federation National Team Shootout held at the Riviera Golf Club in Cavite recently.
Carrying a team handicap of 5 and bannered by three former club champions, An Youn Hwan, Kim Dong Hee, Jung Kyung Young and Ana Jung made eight birdies for a net score of 59 under the Scramble format at Riviera’s challenging Couples course.
The tournament, which had 23 teams this year, was organized and presented by the Federation of Golf Clubs in the Philippines, Inc. Board headed by chairman Richie Garcia president Ogie Manalo and overall tournament chair Pablo Soon.
The triumph also netted the Eagle Ridge players a 4-day, 3-night golf package in Bangkok, Thailand all-expenses (airfare, hotel and two rounds of golf) paid plus Titliest bundle consisting on a golf bag, Boston bag, a box of balls and a cap from co-presenter Empire Golf Sports.
Tagaytay Midlands, with RJ Rizada, Jenz Tecson, Celso Montalla and Danny Carpio in the roster, was runner up with a 62 and won by count back against dethroned champ Cebu Country Club. Each member received a P10-k worth of gift certificate from Empire.
