The Philippine Sports Commission returned to the Davao region yesterday as the second five-day National Sports Coaching Certification Program gets underway at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex.

Philippine Sports Institute’s Deputy Director for Grassroots Marlon Malbog said that “it is through the directive of PSC Chairman William Ramirez to equip national coaches, that the standard and competitiveness of our athletes will improve as well.”

“We look to intensify the course of this program from what we did on the Grassroots Coaching Certification Program last November,” added PSI consultant Prof. Henry Daut.

The activity kicked off with lectures in Sports Physiology, led by Prof. Josephine Reyes, followed by Prof. Robert Jurado on Sports Ethics, Sports Psychology with Dr. Katrina Trinidad and Daut on Sports Philosophy.

“As coaches, we need to hold on to the basic principles of training. That’s the central reason why we are here,” added Davao del Norte Provincial Sports & Youth Development Head Giovanni Gulanes, as he thanked the PSC “for imparting theoretical and scientific sports courses to the coaches of Davao region.”
