ONCE again, the Philippine Basketball Association offers a marquee match-up on Christmas day, pitting rivals Barangay Ginebra and Star in the biggest stage for the third straight year.
Given their huge fan base, the PBA decided to let the Gin Kings and the Hotshots go at it again in an anticipated bout on Dec. 25 in the Philippine Cup at the gigantic Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, the venue where Ginebra won its second straight Governors’ Cup title weeks ago.
The 43rd season, featuring the season-opening Philippine Cup, is set to open shop on Dec. 17.
Despite the announced clash between two of the most popular teams on Christmas, the rest of the tournament schedule is still yet to be released.
On both occasions in 2015 and 2016 where the two teams have fought on Christmas day, the Gin Kings have emerged triumphant each time.
