THE Metropolitan Association of Race Horse Owners will hold the first leg of the Road to the MARHO Breeders Cup Classic and the 1st MARHO Invitational Race today (Saturday) at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite.
The MARHO Breeders’ Cup Classic, one of the biggest racing events in the Philippine racing industry, will take place in November.
The big event will be preceded by high-caliber races beginning with the initial salvo of the Road to the MARHO Breeders Cup Classic that offers a cash prize of P500,000 to be distributed to the winning horse owner, trainer and jockey.
The first leg, sponsored by the Philippine Racing Commission, will cover a distance of 1,600 meters with the winning breeder receiving a trophy plus P20,000 and P10,000 plus trophy going to the winning stallion, if nominated.
Participating horses and their respective owners are Bite My Dust of Nicomedes Cruz, Heiress of Hope (Kerby Chua), Hot and Spicy (George Raquidan), Kanlaon (Benjamin Abalos III), Lakan (Benjamin Abalos Jr.) Manalig Ka (Hermie Esguerra), Son Also Rises (Benjamin Abalos Jr.) and Subterranean River (Wilbert Tan).
The 1st MARHO Invitational Race will be participated by Blue Berry of Ed Dimacuha, Iba Ang SwerteKo and St. Suswa (Tony Tan Jr.), Malaya (Benjamin Abalos Jr.), Premo Jewel (Jeci Lapus) and Strawberry Dawn (Jace Lapus).
This race, sponsored by the Manila Jockey Club Inc., will give away P500,000 cash prize to be distributed among the winning horse owner, trainer and jockey.
There will also be a trophy plus P20,000 to the winning breeder and trophy plus P10,000 to the winning stallion, if the stallion is nominated.
Meanwhile, the MARHO will also hold its general assembly and election of the new sets of officers, who will be induced right away at the Chantilly Restaurant inside the San Lazaro Leisure Park.
MARHO’s inducting officer is its chairman emeritus, Mayor Sandy Javier.
