UNTV Cup two-time champion teams AFP Cavaliers and Judiciary Magis proved their caliber during Sunday’s double-header at the Pasig City Sports Center.

Season 4 finals Most Valuable Player Boyet Bautista and Rookie Romeo Almerol led the AFP Cavaliers past the GSIS Furies, 103-95.

For Coach Sonny Manucat, preparation with a goal in mind is everything.

AFP Cavaliers’ Wilfredo Casulla tries to score against a triple-team put up by the GSIS Furies during the elimination round of UNTV Cup Season 6 at the Pasig City Sports Center.

“Talagang nag-prepare kami. Sabi ko, first impression for the other teams na champion team tayo. And we all agree na we’re on the same page again, na goal namin semifinals, then finals again,” Coach Manucat said.

GSIS coach Myk Saguitguit admitted they faced a big challenge, with only nine out of his 17 members able to play for the Furies.

“Maraming hindi nakapunta ngayong game na ito pero maganda ang nakita kong result even though we lost this game. Nakita ko mas maganda ang gelling nila ngayon compared to the last season,” Coach Saguiguit said.

Meanwhile, the Judiciary Magis toppled the Ombudsman Graft Busters by a 39-point advantage, 115-76.

Season 5 MVP Chester “The Elevator” Tolomia, who made 20 points and 6 rebounds and Julius Rabino who scored 19 points and grabbed two boards, were hailed as the Best Players of the Game.
