The Aces and Road Warriors dispute the eighth and last ticket to the quarterfinals as they figure in a winner-take-all playoff today to see who moves forward in the 2019 Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup.

The teams are expected to go for broke and swing for the fences for that final quarters berth at 7 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Heading to their encounter, both teams will not have much momentum on their side.

Alaska and NLEX are both on a tail-end of two-game losing streaks and only one of them will be able to break out of the slump when it matters the most.

Furthermore, both squads have lost big and got blown out in those respective dry spells.

NLEX lost its previous two assignments by an average of 18.5 points while Alaska dropped its last outings by 14 points.

The Road Warriors could’ve actually booked themselves a ticket in the quarterfinals had they won their last elimination round game.

However, they got clobbered by peaking Magnolia, 102-74, just last Wednesday, enabling the Aces to stay alive and get the chance for the do-or-die encounter.

Waiting in the wings are top seed Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters which will face the victor between the two protagonists.

The Fuel Masters will own a twice-to-beat incentive in the next round.
