SENATORS Joel Villanueva and Sonny Angara powered the Senate Sentinels in registering their first win at the UNTV Cup Executive Face-off after three games.

The Sentinels handed the DOJ Justice Boosters their first loss via an 84-77 victory.

Angara and Villanueva, who was under the weather, combined for a 30 point-production.

“This is my first win as part of the Senate, so it’s kind of special to me despite the fact na mataas ‘yung temperature ko. But kudos to my team. ‘Yung persistency and the will to win nandoon. You can see in our eyes we wanted to win the game,” said Villanueva.

Due to the tight defense of the Senate, they were able to limit DOJ’s two-time Best Player of the Game Prosecutor Nonilon Tagalicud to just 10 points.

Another key factor to Sentinels’ victory were their twin towers Warren Tan and Lino Ong.

Tan was even hailed as the Best Player of the Game after contributing 30 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Meanwhile, AFP Cavaliers unloaded their enormous firepower as they gunned down the BOC Transformers to enlist a 2-1 win loss record.

The Cavaliers, with tall and aggressive generals and colonels, piled up a 73-point win against the troop of BOC Commissioner Faeldon, 114-41.

“We prepared harder after the loss we had on our second game. So I said, ‘We need to bounce back, let’s start with a nice game so that the remaining games we’ll have winning momentum,’” Cavaliers Head Coach Cornelio “Sonny” Manucat III said.

In the third game, Judiciary Magis handed the PNP Responders their first loss of the season in a 75-69 win.
