Kapuso unveils new shows

GMA Network is revving up its programming by releasing its 2018 slate of original series. From heavy drama, to fantasy and romantic comedy, the Kapuso is offering something for everyone. 

Let’s have a quick look at the network’s list of new shows that aims to continue its lead in the numbers game:

The One That Got Away

Probably inspired by Katy Perry’s hit song, Kapuso network’s opening salvo is a story about three women who formed an unlikely friendship after discovering that in different times in their lives, they were romantically linked with the same guy. Starring Lovi Poe, Rhian Ramos, Max Collins and Dennis Trillo, the sexy romantic comedy unfolds tomorrow.

Sirkus

The family-oriented show revolves around the story of twin siblings who escape an evil villainess by running away with a traveling circus. Throughout this cat-and-mouse chase, the twins discover secrets about their new-found circus family and a revelation about their own identities that will change their lives. Top billed by Mikoy Morales and Mikee Quintos, the series premieres on Jan. 21.

Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka

Headlined by Yasmien Kurdi, the series that is set to premiere on Jan. 29 is about a young mother named Althea “Thea” Balagtas-Angeles. In the teaser, Thea’s family is depicted as a happy family until she discovers that she is HIV positive. The advocacy series also stars Mike Tan, playing husband to Yasmien’s character.

Sherlock Jr.

Featuring Ruru Madrid in the title role, the series is set to premiere on Jan. 29 replacing Super Ma’am on the network’s GMA Telebabad line up. Dubbed as the local rendition of a classic British fictional character, Sherlock Jr. is more of a legal drama about a young blind detective who is assisted in solving the most difficult crimes by a dog named Siri.

The Stepdaughters

The drama, which is set to premiere in February  replacing Impostora on the network’s afternoon block, stars StarStruck graduates Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Katrina Halili. Directed by Paul Sta. Ana, The Stepdaughters is about Mayumi (Megan) and Isabelle (Katrina) who grow up as rivals. Isabelle’s rich father marries Mayumi’s mother, which fuels their rivalry for their whole family’s attention.
