Ala Eh! Festival

Lily Monteverde and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto join forces in celebrating the “Ala Eh! Festival” first week of December in Taal, Batangas.

The collaboration brings colorful, brighter and more exciting activities for this year’s festival participants.

Mother Lily and Gov. Vi’s friendship has gone a long way. It even extends beyond showbiz and politics.

Aside from being a true friend, Ate Vi’s dedication and commitment to be of service to her constituents in Batangas inspire Mother Lily. If there is one thing the lady producer/starmaker admire most in the actress-turned-politician, it is the integrity Ate Vi has maintained throughout her years in politics—from being Lipa City mayor to being Batangas governor.

It was in this light that Mother Lily thought of throwing her full support to the Batangas chief by putting up the Taal Imperial Resort Hotel, which generates local employment.

On top of this, the Regal producer also has scholars in Batangas.

To show her gratitude, Mother Lily was, in turn, named “Adopted Mother of Taal.” Gov. Vi personally thanked Mother Lily during the inauguration of the resort/hotel.

“Mother Lily will always be a dear friend. Hindi ko na kailangang magsabi pa sa kanya kung ano ang puwede niyang maitulong sa Batangas. Itong investment niya sa Taal at tulong sa ilang Batangueño ay malaking bagay na hindi lang sa akin kundi sa Batangas na rin.

“Kaya I am very thankful dahil sa darating na Ala Eh! Festival na gagawin sa Taal, she’s there to give her 101 percent support upang maging lalong masaya ito at dayuhin ng mga tao,” Gov. Vi said.

For her part Mother Lily related, “Basta kay Ate Vi, all-out ako. I am just happy because kahit nasa politics na siya, may oras pa rin siya sa mga kaibigan niya sa showbiz.

“I am very, very proud because I am a friend to her. Proud din sa kanyang achievements bilang leader sa Batangas. I’m sure, hindi lang ako ang proud sa changes and improvemenst sa Batangas kungdi pati na rin ang kababayan niya.

“I know she’s on her last term as governor. I believe na kailangan pa rin siya ng politics. She’s very dedicated, committed, and nanay na nanay talaga ng Batangas. I think she deserves a much higher position in the government at unang-una na akong tutulong sa kanya!”

On Nov. 24, Mother Lily feted Gov. Vi with a belated birthday blowout at her Valencia Homes. The affair coincided with the press conference for the “Ala Eh! Festival,” which runs from Dec. 1 up to Dec. 8.

The “Ala Eh! Festival” forms part of Batangas City’s 433rd founding anniversary.

The weeklong celebration includes an agriculture/trade fair, Mutya ng Taal, Mutya ng Batangas, a street party and the Voices, Songs and Rhythm grand finals.

It will be capped by a whole-day event starting with a Eucharistic mass followed by the Float Parade and Festival Dance Competition.
