Gintong Palad Public Service Awards

 The Movie Writers Welfare Foundation announces a milestone event in its history, the holding of its first ever Gintong Palad Public Service Awards at seven tonight at One Esplanade.

These awards are given to those with the purest of hearts and intentions and selfless reaching out to their fellowmen in the face of natural calamities and disasters such as the recent earthquakes and Super Typhoon Yolanda. The awardees come from all sectors of society such as the following: Government – Gov. Vilma Santos and Congressman Alfred Vargas, Business–Manny V. Pangilinan, Miguel Belmonte, Institution–Fr. Anton Pascual of Caritas Manila, Boots Anson Roa (MOWELFUND), Networks–Mel Tiangco–Kapuso Foundation, Gina Lopez–Bantay Bata Foundation, Menchie Silvestre–Alagang Kapatid Foundation and Daniel Razon of Kamanggagawa Foundation, Entertainment–Arnold Clavio, Ricky Reyes, Arnel Ignacio, Ara Mina, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Isko Moreno, Diether Ocampo, Aga Muhlach, Robin Padilla and Angel Locsin.

For the Special awards, these will be presented to those special personalities who were instrumental in setting up the Movie Writers Welfare Foundation. Among them are Gov. E.R. Ejercito, Atty. Ariel Inton, Wilson Tieng, Daniel Razon, Sen. Miguel Zubiri and Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.

The Movie Writers Welfare Foundation was organized in 1998 for the purpose of taking care of the health needs of the movie entertainment press in the Philippines. The MWWF regularly holds medical dental missions in cooperation with UNTV in the NCR and adjacent provinces.

The officers and members of the Movie Writers Welfare Foundation are Emy Abuan (President), Ed de Leon (Vice-President), Pilar Mateo (Secretary), Dennis Aguilar (Treasurer), Gerry Ocampo (Auditor), Raymund Vargas and Virgie Balatico (members, Board of Directors).

The Gintong Palad Public Service Awards Night is hosted by Jasmine Curtis and Mr. Fu and is produced by Wayne Albert Evangelista, Jo B. Arboleda, and Rose Santiago of Elements Marketing and Advertising Services.
