“Tribute is on-going.”

It’s teachers’ break time
Balladeer Christian Bautista entertained thousands of educators who attended the Gabay Guro Grand Gathering over the weekend.

As part of the month-long celebration of the National Teacher’s Month, a grand gathering for thousands of teachers was held to celebrate their sacrifices for the betterment of the country.

Gabay Guro, the PLDT-Smart Foundation’s education advocacy and flagship program, celebrated its 11th year by bringing together teachers from different parts of the country for the much-awaited Grand Gathering 2018.

Thronged with laughs, grooves, and tunes, PLDT and Smart Communications brought the annual event that gave a special treat to everyone’s second mothers and fathers through a day filled with fun games and music.

The teachers as the Most Valuable Partners are the moulders of today’s generation, and Gabay Guro Chairman Chaye Cabal-Revilla gave a message to all the teachers who are the holder of the “future in their hands.”

“More!” The teachers kept on saying in chorus after every performance. The star-studded event featured celebrity performances that brought out hype and cheers from the teachers.

The highlight of the program was DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones’ duet with Martin Nievera for the song, “Ikaw”, which wowed the crowd.

Meanwhile, Gary Valenciano never loses his energy. He owned the stage again after a long hiatus and made everyone in the venue dance as he sang and danced with son, Gab and daughter, Kiana.

“Continue with what you’re doing,” the Mr. Pure Energy told the educators.

Before celebrating her 40th anniversary in show business, Sharon Cuneta performed her greatest hits and had a brief conversation with all the teachers whom she really respects. Aga Muhlach, who has the latest movie, First Love, showed up and helped to announce the winners of the raffle draw.

Additionally, Richard Yap and Gabby Concepcion drew “kilig” from the crowd with their singing while going to the waves of the crowd.

The teachers couldn’t stop dancing and singing along with their favorite actors and singers.

Singers Regine Velasquez, Jaya, Randy Santiago, Basil Valdez, and Ogie Alcasid startled everyone with their powerful vocals that elicited cheers and claps from the “Mams” and “Sirs.”

Serenaded and hugged the teachers were Ronnie Liang, Jovit Baldivino, and Christian Bautista. While, Jed Madela sang a medley and had a duet with Jona, who also sang the classic song, “Ngayon at Kailanman.”

The teachers couldn’t stop laughing with Boobay and Ate Gay’s exchanges of jokes and playing the lyrics of some songs.
