Mariner's daughter Ranella Ferrer is making waves in Hollywood.

A Ship Captain’s sacrifices in battling the rough seas during his stint as an able seafarer has paid off, especially right now when her daughter is soaring high in her chosen craft—the Performing Arts. Take note, not here in the Philippines, but in the entertainment capital of the world, Hollywood.

Tinig ng Marino contributor and Master Mariner Demy Ferrer at first was not comfortable of what his daughter Ranella Ferrer was engaging during her teenage years. For him entertainment is a “shallow” vocation and not a lucrative one—a perception of a loving but strict father back then.

But as Ranella started making waves in the music industry in Hollywood, Capt. Ferrer has learned to the fact that his daughter was a born entertainer. He could only be more proud as Ranella proved herself to be one of the brightest Filipino-American emerging stars in the US.

Ranella has earned the moniker the “Thrilla from Manila,” in Hollywood. She has remained a powerhouse in the Filipino-American entertainment industry since she was only 13 years old.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Ranella’s strong-will character and dedication led her to move to America and landed in Cerritos, California to pursue her career as a professional singer.  Her professional background includes Grammy produced songs, commercial pop singles, and multiple appearances in live performances, tour collaborations, and TV and Radio shows, making her one of the most-wanted Fil-Am vocalists in the America.

Ranella sang the National Anthem for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2016 and has sung for former President of the Philippines Fidel Ramos. In that part of the world, she is known as the Asian Queen of Soul fronting for shows headlined by Keysha Cole, Stevie Wonder, Tyrese, B2K, and NEYO, to name a few.

In addition, Celebrity Chronicles named Ranella as “Best Female Vocalist” for her song on the soundtrack for the Wayan’s Bros movie, The Dance Flick

After a 3-year hiatus and a long road of finding her way back to the spotlight, Ranella was cast to join the Season 1 of Revenge Body by Khloe Kardashian on the E! Network.  The show premiered on Jan. 12 last year.

Announced on Dec. 16, 2015, the six-episode series features two people in each episode who get a makeover using assistance of personal trainers and stylists leading to a “major transformation inside and out.” And Ranella was included in the pilot episode, which was totally transformed from a “big lady” to a voluptuous singer now.

Ranella’s transformation was not only the show’s biggest success stories, but it has motivated her to continue to pursue her music career.

Since the show, she has been traveling across the country singing national anthems for professional sports teams as well as major events such as The 5th Annual Binibining Pilipinas USA and Binibining Teen USA 2017 Coronation Night. She has been performing many times in the NBA and the American Football and Softball Games, with her own rendition of American National anthem.

Not only that, a recent citation was also handed-over to Ranella by the Filipino community in the US, hailing her as the Most Outstanding Singer/Performer of the Year 2018 during the recently concluded 17th Annual Gawad America Awards in Los Angeles, California.

The comeback artist and former reality TV star, is on a mission to reclaim her spot in the entertainment industry, while inspiring others to embrace fitness by becoming the better versions of themselves.

Meanwhile, for Capt. Demy, he bragged that he knew that it was him who contributed to the singing prowess of his daughter.

And for him, no one is more proud than a father who sees his daughter soar while feeling happy and content in her chosen field.
