People draw inspiration from many sources including from those who have done incredible deeds but are not given enough credit that they deserve.

For PCSupt. Rhodel Sermonia, many modern-day heroes are unheard of because mainstream media are too focused on something else. Hence, with co-host and producer Leonora Sy, they are training the spotlight on men in uniform, a show that started as an advocacy to give honest members of the PNP, the armed force, MMDA, and other uniformed force the recognition they deserve for their sacrifices and heroic acts.

ON A MISSION. Actor Martin del Rosario in a scene from the pilot telecast of 'Uniporme,' a 'heroserye' that highlights the stories of the unsung heroes of the uniformed force.

“We wanted to appreciate and give tribute to our unsung heroes. That is our first consideration. And secondly, we wanted our fellowmen to see our uniformed men’s sacrifices in fulfilling their jobs, that sometimes they even risk their lives in the name of service,” Sermonia remarked.

Entitled, Uniporme, the weekly series premieres today at 3:00 p.m. on GMA News TV. Each episode, the show introduces new member of the uniformed force whose story is equally inspirational and worth the attention of the public.

In the pilot telecast, actor Martin del Rosario portrays PO2 Adolfo Andrada, a survivor of the ill-fated Special Action Force (SAF) mission in Mamasapano.

“The story itself starts with PO2 Andrada as a child and how he envisioned himself as a man in uniform, then we feature his training until the encounter that left his comrades sacrificing their lives,” Martin started.

According to the 25-year-old actor, it’s not the first time he’s going to essay such role but playing PO2 Andrada was extremely difficult and challenging.

“He is a hero that’s why I feel proud and privileged to portray the role. But I would have to admit, our first taping day was already bloody. It’s already full of action and if you think wearing a bulletproof vest is easy, it’s not. It’s quite heavy, it’s like you’re carrying some hollow blocks around your body,” Martin confessed.

More than the life PO2 Andrada, the pilot episode that Martin stars in would like to underscore the heroic deeds of SAF members, how brave they were and what sacrifices they were willing to take for the sake of their comrades and the community that they served.

“Most people only know the heroes in text books, but we have a lot of heroes, modern-day heroes. They wear uniforms, not just the police, we have fire fighters, doctors, nurses, there are so many of them who make a difference in this world,” he said.

Apart from Martin, future episodes of Uniporme will feature Rodjun Cruz, Dianne Medina, Jeric Raval, Rich Asuncion and Andres Vasquez.
