THE national police service has won another battle, but not in its war against criminality. Police Officer 2 Mariano Flormata Jr., undoubtedly, the hottest cop in town, was named Mister Philippines-International 2014 during the exciting finals of the Misters of the Philippines 2014 contest, held at the Grand Theater of University of Makati last Sunday night.
Flormata, a 29-year-old, finished a criminology course at Manuel L. Quezon University. He is the son of a police officer from Tondo, Manila.
With his victory, he earned the right to compete in the Mr. International 2014 contest in Seoul, Korea in October.
Flormata, at the time of his joining the pageant, was and still with the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as a bomb and explosives technician under the PNP Aviation and Security Group. He gained popularity in the media in the last few weeks after he joined the contest, a first for a man in uniform.
Flormata spoke to the judges of his advocacy in promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyle among men, answered the final question that his definition of happiness is his family who has given him love and support for his endeavors.
He won Most Photogenic and Best in Swimwear, and Mr. Unisilver, Mr. Informatics and Mr. Multidestination Global Link Travel. Those were apart from the grand title he later won.
Mister Fil-USA Judah Cohen was named Mister PH Tourism, Mister Fil-UK Adam Davis as Mister PH Model International, and Mister Caloocan City Joseph Doruelo took the title Mister Global Philippines. Cohen and Davis will compete in Panama in 2015 and Dominican Republic in November 2014, respectively. Doruelo will represent the country at the 2015 Mister Global in Bangkok, Thailand.
Mister International 2013 Jose Paredes, Mister Singapore 2014 Andy Wong, and Mister International pageant owner Alan Sim were present during the pageant. President and Chief Executive Preciosa Anna of Prime Event Productions Philippines Foundation, Inc., organizer of Misters of the Philippines contest, and Project Director Carlo Morris Galang were extremely happy with the success of the pageant which aimed to raise the standard of male beauty contest.
Earlier, the PNP leadership lauded PO2 Flormata for making it as finalist in the respectable male competition, adding that extracurricular activities are welcomed by the PNP, as these would bring the police closer to the community, as long these would not interfere with the cop’s duties as a policeman. Flormata’s winning as Mister Philippines International 2014 is a cause for celebration at the whole police organization.
