Nora Aunor happy ĎMabutií won Best Picture

Despite her loss in the Best Actress race in the recently concluded Cine Filipino Film Festival, Nora Aunor remains proud of her entry, Ang Kuwento ni Mabuti. ďItís really like that,Ē she says. ďThe jurors made their decision so, letís just respect it. Honestly, I donít think about awards whenever I do a project. Iím aware that all the other lead actresses also delivered outstanding work in their respective entries so it was clearly anybodyís ball game, so to speak.

ďBut more than anything, Iím happy because our entry won Best Picture along with Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita and Direk Mes de Guzman brought home the Best Director plum. Apart from the positive reviews, it also did well at the box-office during its commercial run. Thatís what really matters!Ē This early, many are already excited for next yearís awards season since she and long-time rival, Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto are sure to figure out prominently in the Best Actress category. While critics praised her acting in Ang Kuwento ni Mabuti, the Star for all Seasons also drew raves for her performance in Ekstra, in which she clinched her first-ever CineMalaya Best Actress trophy. ďWell, thank you. Actually, the Nora-Vilma rivalry will always be there no matter what. Itís something that is forever etched in the hearts of film aficionados specially our avid followers. I guess weíre both lucky that even up to this day we still receive this kind of adulation from the fans. ďWith regards to our chances in winning Best Actress next year, it still boils down to the role. She can do certain parts which I canít and vice-versa. Again it would depend on the taste of the judges. At this point, whatís important is that both of us continue giving back to our audiences who catapulted us to where we are now. We owe them our success so they ought to get only the best, right?Ē Itís noticeable that like her and Vilma, some of the industryís brightest luminaries are gradually trying the indie genre as well. ďOh, I know! Donít you think itís a good sign? The whole movie industry will benefit from it. Perhaps, itís what we need!Ē avers Guy. Inspired by the success of her indie starrers, the diminutive screen icon is toying with the idea of going back into film production. ďThatís right! I want to revive NV Productions. In fact, Iím in the process of choosing a good and worthy material.Ē For her next big project on TV5, the Superstar assures that it is something that the public will like. ďYes, itís titled Dementia. Itís the first directorial job of Percy Intalan. Iím truly thrilled with this one because itís different. This is a psychological drama which I havenít done yet on television. From what I know, our taping starts this November,Ē ends Nora.

Marian Rivera considers the currently showing Kung Fu Divas as another milestone in her career. ďFor one, it holds many firsts. Itís my maiden project under Star Cinema, my first screen team-up with Ai Ai delas Alas and my baptism of fire as a co-producer. Itís definitely a wonderful and unforgettable experience!Ē she states. The Kapuso Prime Time Queen has only good words for her equally popular co-star. ďAte Ai is very down-to-earth. During the story conference, we instantly established rapport. I discovered that we have many commonalities. Iím happy that we were able to build friendship in spite of the fact that we work for rival networks.Ē According to the lovely star, preparations for the film were not that easy. ďPerhaps, itís because Iím one of the producers so, I get to monitor things. Just like the fight scenes and the special effects. We tapped the services of Chinese trainers for our Kung Fu routines. Itís good that I didnít find it hard since I already have a background because of Darna and Amaya. The special effects are a technical marvel. Iím very sure viewers will get entertained to the max!Ē Many ask if boyfriend Dingdong Dantes were a great influence in her decision to work with Star Cinema. ďFor the record, he didnít! Dong and I are supportive of each other. He just wanted me to experience how it was to work with Star Cinema and I didnít regret giving it a try especially that they treat their stars well,Ē says Marian.
