A Filipino-American model has made history by becoming the first transgender Asian-Pacific Islander Playboy playmate.
Geena Rocero took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce she is now a part of the Playboy family.
Rocero came out as a trans-woman in a TED Talk back in 2014, and has since become an advocate for the trans community”•openly sharing her experience and even co-founding a trans-focused production company called Gender Proud.
Hailing from Manila, Rocero first migrated to the United States when she was 17, and has since been pursuing a modeling career in New York.
Rocero may be the first-ever trans-Asian Pacific Islander playmate, but she is the second openly transgender playmate”•the first being French model Ines Rau.
The summer 2019 Playboy magazine will be released on June 18.
