Duterte apologizes to Kris over Uson ‘video’

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday apologized to actress Kris Aquino after Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson used a video of the late Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. to justify Duterte’s kissing of a married woman.

Uson did not apologize for dragging the late Aquino to her social media page, but Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go said he would ask Uson to apologize.

“This is not about you,” Uson had said in response to Aquino’s statements.

Aquino was annoyed by Uson’s social media post showing a video of her father receiving a kiss from two women on board a plane before he was gunned down on Aug. 21, 1983.

Uson apparently showed the video after Duterte was criticized for kissing a woman on the lips in Seoul.

Go said Kris had conveyed to him her sentiments against Uson’s online post.

He said he and the President have apologized to Kris, who accused Uson of disrespecting her father.

“We conveyed our apologies for the incident concerning her and Mocha,” Go told reporters in Malacañang.

He said Uson had also agreed to apologize for her post, but he believed Uson did not have a bad intention when she shared the video.

Go claimed Uson was just showing that both Duterte and Aquino were popular and well-loved leaders.

“We understand the emotions of both sides since both leaders are well-respected and loved,” he said.

Go said he and Uson had agreed to put an end to the issue out of respect for Filipinos.
