AN OFFICIAL on Friday fired a Malacañang worker for producing a badly written note on the official press ID of reporters covering the Palace.

The errors included serious grammatical lapses and run-on sentences, but was nevertheless signed by Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, the same official who fired the worker.

Andanar said only the front portion of the ID reached his office for approval, but no one was able to explain why his signature was on the back side.

Some of the errors:

“[This card] is non-transferable and void if altered this card remains property of Presidential Communications Office…

“Upon expiration or when resigns from his or her agency, this card should be returning without delay to the International Press Center….”

The ID drew criticism from netizens after it appeared on Viber.

Andanar said he had already ordered an investigation of what he described as a “breach of protocol” because he saw only the front portion of the ID.

He crossed out the note on the back of the ID with a red-ink pen and then wrote “Revise!!! Then hand in your resignation letter by Monday!” Vito Barcelo

He also ordered the recall of the ID cards issued to the reporters covering Malacañang.
