15 UMak graduates join 5,000 new accountants

SOME 15 graduates of the University of Makati were among more than 5,000 examinees who passed the Certified Public Accountants board exams held last month, Mayor Abigail Binay announced on Friday.  

Based on the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission–Board of Accountancy, the 15 Accountancy graduates of UMak were among only 5,249 board passers out of 14,390 examinees in the said licensure test throughout the country.

Binay said: “Congratulations to the latest batch of Certified Public Accountants who had obtained their college education from the University of Makati. 

“You can now look to the future with more confidence and optimism. May you continue to inspire the youth of Makati by consistently embodying excellence in your respective careers.”

The 15 CPA board passers are Orland Adrigado, Guimalyn Bobiles, Adora Bolondo, Camille Loren Canapi, John Camile Carpio, Juvy May Donato, Mary Jane Dulay, Christine Espiritu, Matt Aljon Jimenez, Jose Lambohon Jr., Anne Marie Macailao, Jomar Restauro, Sara Lavinia Romuar, Ginalyn Ronquillo, and Jinky Kimberly Donato.

In the October 2016 CPA board exam, UMak obtained a 41.67 percent overall passing rate, higher than the national average of 36.48 percent.

In the May 2016 CPA licensure examination, the city-run university produced nine board passers. There were 2,967 successful examinees out of 6,925 board takers.

In May 2015, UMak summa cum laude Kristofferson Isar dela Cruz placed fifth in the CPA licensure exam. He was among 14 Accountancy graduates of UMak who passed the said exam.

Aside from BS in Management Accounting (leading to BS Accountancy, a five-year program), the College of Business Administration (CBA) of UMak offers 11 other four-year courses. These are BS Business Administration Major in Supply Management, BS Business Administration Major in Building and Property Management, BS Finance, BS Financial Management, BS Hospitality Management Major in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and BS in Hospitality Management Major in Travel and Tourism Management.

 CBA also offers BS Marketing, BS Marketing Management, BS Office Management, BS Business Administration in Entrepreneurship, and BS Business Administration in Human Resource Management and Development.
