The bazaar opened with the ceremonial ringing of the kulintang, an ancient instrument composed of a row of small, horizontally laid gongs that function melodically by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. and actress and wife of Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Helen Gamboa-Sotto.

The bazaar was organized by the International Bazaar Foundation, led by Maria Lourdes Locsin, wife of the Foreign Affairs chief.

Some 37 embassies, 13 consulates, as well as 58 local and international exhibitors, showcased their finest products at bargain prices to the delight of the holiday buyers.

Eager shoppers also got to sample authentic international cuisine from food stalls of 21 embassies and enjoyed the lively cultural performances by the embassies of Indonesia, Timor Leste, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
