The Sandiganbayan's Sixth Division has convicted ex-Bureau of Customs deputy commissioner Prudencio Melendez Reyes Jr. guilty of three counts of violation of Section 8 of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials in connection with the non-disclosure of his Statement of Assets, Liablities and Net Worth.
In a May 10 resolution, the anti-graft court directed Reyes to pay a P5,000 fine for each count or a total of P15,000.
The court, however, withdrew the falsification case against the respondent upon the prosecutor's request after Reyes entered plea bargaining agreement with the defense.
The anti-graft court indicted Reyes for failure to disclose his business interests and financial ties in All in One Entertainment Corp., his connections in Prudence Group of Companies, and his 2005 Honda TMX123 motorcycle in his SALNs for 2010.
Reyes also failed to state his financial connections in All in One Entertainment Corp. in his 2011 SALN.
He entered a guilty plea on May 10.
