The SMC Tollways Group said on Friday that its tollroads—SLEX, Skyway, NAIAX, STAR, and TPLEX—are all set for the expected surge of vehicles ahead of the long All Saints’ Day holiday as it rolls out Oplan Undas 2018 to ensure safe and convenient travel of motorists.

Additional traffic and security personnel and ambulant tellers will be deployed on the southbound direction of Skyway, NAIAX, SLEX and STAR Tollway, especially at identified areas and toll plazas where heavy traffic is expected from the afternoon of Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.

These include:  Skyway C5 to Alabang Sucat interchange to Dr. Santos Avenue, NAIAX Main Toll Plaza A, and B, SLEX Sta. Rosa to Calamba Toll Plaza A and B and Ayala Toll Plaza, STAR Tollway Sto. Tomas Entry, Lipa Exit, and Balagtas to roundabout.

As motorists are expected to return to Manila on Nov. 3-5, SMC Tollways will also deploy additional personnel in STAR Tollway Sto. Tomas Exit; SLEX Ayala Toll Plaza, Calamba Entry and Filinvest-Alabang Exit; and Skyway Main On-ramp, Toll Plaza A and B to help ease the expected heavy traffic.

Oplan Undas will also include the setting up of ROADMAP stations at both northbound and southbound directions of the tollroads namely; Skyway-C5 SB, Merville SB and Sucat SB; SLEX’s Petron San Pedro SB and Petron km 44 NB; STAR Tollway’s Petron Malvar, Petron Lipa NB, Lapu-Lapu Lay-by NB and Petron San Jose NB; TPLEX’s Petron km 134 NB and SB. These stations will provide motorist assistance and travel information.

To further strengthen its traffic, safety and security management operations, SMC Tollways will also maintain close coordination with the Metro Manila Development Authority, Philippine National Police-National Capital Region Police Office, local police in the vicinities of the toll roads, Highway Patrol Group, Toll Regulatory Board, toll service facilities, and concerned local government units.

Emergency medical service providers and accredited towing services will be posted at strategic locations to promptly respond to any emergency.

The Group advises motorists to plan their trips ahead and keep their vehicles in excellent running condition to avoid problems on the road.

They also remind drivers to stay alert, to observe and obey traffic and safety rules, especially the speed limits posted along the expressways. To reduce queueing, cash-paying motorists are advised to prepare exact toll fees.
