The plan of an alleged a sultan from Marawi City to testify against President Rodrigo Duterte in a global court is a “propaganda proceeding” initiated by the Left, Malacañang said Tuesday.

“That’s not an official proceeding. That’s a propaganda proceeding by the Left,” Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said in a Palace press briefing Tuesday afternoon.

Roque made the remark when asked to comment about the report of human rights group Karapatan saying Sultan Hamidullah Atar of Marawi City will attest before the International Peoples’ Tribunal in opposition to the President.

According to Karapatan, Atar will testify on Sept. 18-19 at the IPT2018 in Brussels, Belgium. He will talk about the human rights violations allegedly committed under the Duterte administration during the Marawi City siege, and the declaration of martial law in Mindanao.

Roque, meanwhile, remains confident that the Sultan’s testimony would not be a cause of concern on the part of the President.
