Duterte appoints 17 new judges for metro cities

Malacañang has appointed 17 new judges to be assigned to various courts in cities in Metro Manila.

In a transmittal letter dated Sept. 11, President Rodrigo Duterte through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea informed the Supreme Court that he has appointed the judges for courts in the cities of Makati, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Pasay and Manila.

These include Judge Karla Funtila-Abugan of Manila City Metropolitan Trial Court, Branch 17, and Judge Catherine Manzano who was appointed MeTC Judge of Makati City Branch 126.

Abugan and Manzano served as chiefs of staff of SC Justices Lucas Bersamin and SC Justice Marvic Leonen, respectively, prior to their appointment as judges.

Appointed as judges in Makati City were Judges Melinda Cielo Mendoza under MeTC Branch 125; Clemente M. Clemente of Branch 127; Maureen Rubio-Marquez of Branch 128; Alexius Tang of Branch of Branch 129; Lorelei Balansay-Tapia of Branch 130.

In Mandaluyong City, designated were Judges Karyn Lee-Tribaco of MeTC Branch 100 and Earl Warren Castillo of Branch 101.

For Manila City MeTC, the new judges are Jose Cordero Jr. under Branch 11; Richelle Lou Boling Sanchez of Branch 29; and Grace Maria Theresa Bambi delos Reyes-Jurado of Branch 30.
