POEA warns OFWs vs London job scam

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration warned prospective Filipino overseas job seekers from an online job offer in London, after the agency found out that the job offer was a scam because of many grammatical errors posted on its website.

In a statement, the POEA said that Jersey Oil and Gas Co. is not hiring any workers and not accredited with the POEA’s list of foreign companies to hire Filipino workers.

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office in London reported that several OFWs have received an “Official Employment Letter” from Jersey Oil informing them of approval of their application for employment.

Labor Attaché Reydeluz Conferido said the company never sought verification and authentication of its identity and qualifications to POLO-London needed for its accreditation and registration by the POEA.

The POEA at present, has no record of accreditation or job orders in the name of Jersey Oil, adding “any effort by this company to recruit Filipino workers at present is deemed illegal by our government.”
