Rappler Chief Executive Officer Maria Ressa has appeared at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Headquarters in Manila.
She was there to respond to a subpoena issued by the NBI for a cybercrime complaint filed by Chinese businessman Wilfredo Keng.
Ressa said she showed up because she was not afraid and she had nothing to hide.
She had yet to receive a copy of the case so she was not certain what questions the NBI investigators would ask.
A cyber libel was filed against online news website Rappler.
It stemmed from an investigative report published in 2012 and written by former Rappler justice reporter Reynaldo Santos Jr.
The article said Former Supreme Court Justice Renato Corona was renting a luxury vehicle owned by Keng.
At that time, Corona was facing an impeachment trial while Keng supposedly had a pending case in a lower court.
Keng had denied owning the sports utility vehicle allegedly used by Corona.
Santos did not appear in the initial investigation.
The NBI had also sent a subpoena to businessman Benjamin Bitanga.
