A suspected “gun for hire” believed to be the hit man of alleged drug lords jailed in the New Bilibid Prison was shot dead in Caloocan City during an anti-drug operation Thursday morning.

Insp. Ali Jose Duterte, chief of the NPD Special Operation Unit said the slain Adonis dela Rosa resisted arrest by operatives so he was shot when the police authorities raided his boarding house at Dagat-Dagatan Village in the city.

Duterte said Dela Rosa was rushed to the Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon but was declared dead on arrival by a physician.

The suspect allegedly killed drug distributors who failed to remit money to convicted drug lords inside the Bilibid, Duterte said.

Dela Rosa has also been tagged in a series of fatal shootings in Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela between 2015 and June this year.

The NPD official said the suspected killer frequently changed his residence making it hard for the operatives to track him.
