Lawmakers opt for ‘bayanihan’; Romualdez grateful
Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez welcomed the efforts of the House to generate funds and deliver relief goods for Yolanda survivors particularly in Tacloban City.
“We are glad to see the overwhelming support that my colleagues have been extending for the victims of this tragedy. This very much highly-appreciated,” Romualdez said.
In separate interviews with the Manila Standard, House Assistant Majority Leader and Davao City Rep. Karlo Alexei Nograles, Isabela Rep. Rodolfo Albano III, Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga, Jr., Ako-Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe, DIWA party-lisy Rep. Emmeline Aglipay, Ang Nars party-list Rep. Leah Paquiz, and Gabriela Rep. Luz Ilagan said they have sent their respective troops to the typhoon-ravaged areas to provide all the necessary help to the victims.
Barzaga said that as for the Lone District of Dasmariñas, the City Government spearheaded ‘TULONG DASMARINEÑO’ in partnership with the Immaculate Conception Parish Church represented by Fr. Danny Tiong which intends to raise funds and collect goods for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
“This initiative started last Nov. 12 (Tuesday) with a drop-off center at the mentioned parish open daily from 8am-5pm,” Barzaga added.
Barzaga said the information drive regarding the said project was done through the Facebook account of Mayor Jenny Barzaga, through text brigade, through tarpaulins installed in common poster areas including the City Hall and various parishes, through the community channel in the local cable, and through a memorandum addressed to various sectors in order to encourage more Dasmarineños to take an active part.
