San Fernando, Pampanga”•The Department of Trade and Industry in Central Luzon has released the names of 15 certified manufacturers of fireworks and firecrackers for the joyous celebration of the holidays in the country.

Judith Angeles, DTI Central Luzon regional director, said the different products of the manufacturers are safe because these underwent audit by the Bureau of Product Standard (BPS) for a safe and accident-free Christmas season.

During the DTI media forum here, Norlito Tiglao, supervising trade industry specialist of the regional office, said the manufacturers not included in the list but selling fireworks are “fly by night” operators.

The authorized and safe manufactures are located in Bocaue, Sta. Maria, Malolos City, San Ildefonso, Norzagaray, Baliuag, Angat and other municipalities of Bulacan.

The manufacturers are A.G.E. Pyrotechnic Enterprises, Diamond Fireworks, Double I Fireworks, Dragon Fireworks Inc., Global Lions Fireworks Inc., Golden Leopard King Fireworks Manufacturers, Legendary Fireworks, Inc, MADZ Firecrackers and Pyrotechnic-Vista Alegre;

“These are genuine producers with quality products that are safe,” Tiglao added.

He said the audit of manufacturers and their products was conducted in coordination with other government agencies, police authorities and officials of the province of Bulacan.

These factories are 300 meters away from populated areas as their production site, materials use, sale or distribution are provided for under the Republic Act 7183, Tiglao said.

Despite the strict implementation of the law, explosions happened in Bocaue and Santa Maria that killed four persons and injured 28 others in past years.

The fireworks industry that was started in Sta. Maria by Valentin Sta. Maria in 1867 has employed thousands of people in the region, who have turned their houses into shops and manufacturing sites.
