NFA says rice stocks safe, of good quality

The National Food Authority on Monday assured the public that only good quality rice stocks were released by the agency for sale at P27 per kilogram in public markets.

NFA administrator Judy Carol Dansal said the agency took all the necessary steps to ensure rice stocks were kept in good condition through good warehouse-keeping protocols.

She stressed the agency’s commitment to release only rice stocks that were safe and in good condition.

The agency issued the pronouncement in the wake of a news report that a retailer in the Pasig mega-market allegedly complained about the poor quality of NFA rice sold in the market.

An official of NFA’s East District Office immediately checked on the quality of NFA rice sold in the area.

No such “poor quality” stocks with “bad odor and even worms,” however, were presented as the retailer said she already sold all her stocks.
