TV5 Network Inc. said Wednesday it plans to roll out digital terrestrial television network in Metro Manila next year in preparation for the industry’s shift from analog TV.

“We are going to launch our own DTT network. We’re on the process.  We should be awarding it very soon to a winning supplier, and we should start to build within the year, and it’s going to be a joint build by Cignal and TV5,” TV5 president and chief executive Jane Basas said.

“The Mega Manila [analog TV] shutdown will happen end of 2020, and then certain parts of Luzon in 2021, certain parts of Visayas and Mindanao in 2022, and all over the country by 2023,” she said.

Basas said the DTT allows the network to offer multiple channels. ABS-CBN Corp. and GMA Network Inc. already upgraded their network transmissions into digital TV from analog.

TV5 earlier said it was planning to overhaul its programming strategy next year to boost advertising revenues.
