Cappuccino ala Nico Bolzico

Nico Bolzico is a proof that a man can be handsome, funny, and great at making coffee at the same time.

“It was the first time I made a cappuccino in my life,” exclaimed Bolzico, who still couldn’t believe he was able to whip up different barista-style coffee concoctions in a matter of minutes, with a quick push of a button.

Bolzico never had a problem making good food, but making good coffee, he admitted, was a completely different level, which is why he always leaves it to the pros and gets his daily caffeine fix from coffee shops.

“Not until I found this baby,” he said, patting his Nespresso machine like an old buddy. “Now, making my own cup is faster, more convenient—perfect for busy days, which I just never seem to run out of.”

He was even able to create his own recipe, The Bolziccino. It is a gorgeous mix of milk, maple syrup, and Nespresso Corto, one of the new flavors from the Nespresso Barista Creations. “I’m telling you, it’s delicious!”

“Solenn is very impressed—with Nespresso, not with me,” he quipped.

Bolzico recently showcased his barista skills using the Nespresso machine at the Nespresso Boutique in Power Plant Mall, Makati. He showed how to create perfectly crafted milk and coffee recipes and shared coffee making tips.

Guests also enjoyed the three Barista Creations flavors: Chiaro (which means “light” in Italian), Scuro (meaning “dark), and Corto (which means “short”).

The Bolziccino is made of milk, maple syrup, and Nespresso Corto.

Inspired by Brooklyn baristas, Chiaro was created especially for smooth and sweet coffee and milk recipes. When milk is added to create a mild cappuccino, it unlocks sweet notes of caramel and biscuit.

Scuro, on the other hand, was inspired by baristas in Melbourne. It has the perfect balance between milk and roasted coffee notes. Its profile remains intense and roasted, but balanced with milk, creating a delicious strong cappuccino.

Inspired by Spanish baristas, Corto has a powerful taste and a syrupy texture for recipes with just a little touch of milk. With a very dark, spicy, intense roasted, and smoky flavor profile, it’s ideal for traditional Spanish cortado.

Nespresso Barista Creations are available at the Nespresso Boutique in Power Plant Mall, SM Podium, and Greenbelt 5.
