To expand its network and build linkages in the global community, the local government of Muntinlupa has partnered with Xi’an Municipal People’s Government of China to explore points of collaboration in various development areas, including offering Mandarin classes in a local college.

Muntinlupa City Administrator Engr. Allan Cachuela represented Mayor Jaime Fresnedi in a benchmark visit to Xi’an, Shaanxi province’s capital last Sept. 13.

The Muntinlupa delegation represented the Philippines in the Euro-Asia Economic Forum and the 2nd Traditional Chinese Medicine International Exchange and Cooperation Forum. Among the delegates in the forum were business executives and medical professionals from the United States, Hungary, and Japan.

“We are very grateful that Xi’an is open for partnership in various areas of exchange. The City Government of Muntinlupa looks forward in learning from Xi’an and adapt these innovations in our city,” Cachuela said in a welcome banquet.

Also joining the benchmark visit were Muntinlupa City Health Office Assistant Department Head Dr. Juancho Bunyi, Ms. Carina Perez, Deputy City Administrator Roger John Smith, and Colegio de Muntinlupa College President Dr. Teresita Fortuna.

Muntinlupa execs visited a local hospital in Xi’an to benchmark Chinese traditional health programs as part of the benchmark visit. The city government seeks to enrich its expertise in health and wellness as part of the local government’s development priorities.  The local officials also toured the Terracotta Army site and Xiang Shiyou University.

A Mandarin class is set to be offered in Colegio de Muntinlupa as part of the two towns’ cultural exchange program. Further, medical staff and other government personnel will be trained in Chinese Language Centers and Health Facilities as part of Xi’an and Muntinlupa’s agreement.

In 2017, Muntinlupa officials signed a memorandum of agreement with CBSC, Zhongpin Wisdom of Limited by Share Co., LTD as a preliminary networking initiative with Xi’an.

The partnership between the two parties included exchange on programs of health care, e-commerce, business entrepreneurship, student-teacher exchange, and tourism promotion, among others.
