Belingon pressure-free as he looks to end rivalry with Fernandes

Former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon insists that he will come in pressure-free against World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes

They will settle their rivalry once and for all as they meet for the fourth time in the co-main event of ONE: CENTURY, which will be held at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on October 13.

With their match almost a month away, Belingon shared that things are breezy.

“[I feel] no pressure at all. I’ve been waiting for this fight since last March,” Belingon shared.

Their last match ended in controversy. The Team Lakay standout got disqualified for illegal elbows.

“I’ve been in this situation before and even though a lot of eyes will be glued to this match, I feel no pressure. I feel hungry and more motivated to perform and to win.”

For Belingon, there are several factors to his outstanding condition right now.

First, three of his teammates in Danny “The King” KingadLito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang, and Honorio “The Rock” Banario will be joining him in Tokyo to represent the country.

At the same time, Team Lakay opened a new gym in Pico La Trinidad in Benguet.

With such factors at play, Belingon has no excuse to come in unprepared.

“It’s easier to prepare because four of us will be competing there. Of course, it helps when we all train together. They push me every time,” Belingon shared.

“The gym is also a huge help. There’s a cage there, so it’s much better to move and it suits us better.”

The rivalry between Belingon and Fernandes will be remembered as one of the fiercest rivalries in ONE history, and at the end of the day, the 31-year-old will not let himself be remembered on the wrong end of history.

“This might be the last time that we’ll face each other, and I want to make sure to give everything I have,” Belingon said.

“My confidence is through the roof, though I am not taking him lightly. I am taking a very careful approach because I really want to end up on top.”

ONE: CENTURY is the biggest World Championship martial arts event in history. No organization has ever promoted two full-scale World Championship events in one day.

But The Home Of Martial Arts breaks new ground as 28 World Champions compete in multiple World Title bouts, three World Grand Prix Championship Finals, and several World Champion versus World Champion matches at the famous Ryogoku Kokugikan on 13 October in Tokyo, Japan.

In the meantime, watch ONE Championship’s next event, ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH, on ABS-CBN S+A at 9:30pm PHT.
