“As a caring community, Taguig continues to push for programs for PWDs in the city,” Cayetano said.

Among the projects being implemented are priority lanes for PWDs in all city offices; scholarships under the Priority Courses and Skills Training of the city’s Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-Need scholarship program; hiring of deaf encoders for the Taguig City Integrated Survey System; and training on sign language for city employees.

The city government also made improvements on the Special Education Program Center (Sentro Kalinga) which is recognized by the Department of Education and has now additional manpower, including occupational and physical therapists.

Under Ordinance No. 29, all registered PWDs in the city receive P1,000 as birthday cash gift since 2017.

The city government is also in the process of building the Disability Resource and Development Center, a five-story building located on Ipil-ipil Street, Purok 7, Barangay North Signal.

The center will provide different services for PWDs in Taguig, including livelihood trainings, transition programs and tutorial services. It will also feature a showroom that will showcase handicraft products made by PWDs residing in the city.
