Taipei, Taiwan—The Taiwan food and packaging industry urged global food manufacturers and even packaging technology innovators to maximize the opportunity presented by the trade war between the US and China.

“As the trade war between the US and China unfolds, countries may take this opportunity to develop new markets. US and China and the world need materials, they need technology for their food business and packaging industries,” Taiwan Packaging Association chairwoman May Wang said Wednesday at the opening of the 29th Taipei International Food Show held at the Taipei World Trade Center.

She specifically addressed participants to the expo, including seven exhibitors from the Philippines who joined the 3-day food event.

She noted the global food manufacturing and packaging industries would help diversify the risks of the trade war by promoting smart technologies to countries where the innovations mattered most.

She also urged participants to use advanced technology in manufacturing and packaging facilities such as artificial intelligence and robotics to reduce costs.
