Many would think that her latest single titled, “Regret” mirrors her recent break-up with boyfriend Benjamin Alves but Julie Ann San Jose says it has no connection at all.

In a recent interview, the young singer revealed that she wrote the song two years.

“It was based on pure imagination. It’s probably about someone but no one in particular. For the record, it wasn’t written for someone,” she avers.

Fans are curious whether or not she feels any regret with what happened with her relationship with Benjamin.

Julie Anne San Jose drops a new single entitled, 'Regrets,' which according to the singer, doesn't have any connection with current her state of heart.

“I don’t feel any! I know that things happen for a reason. I have no regrets. There are really times in our life when we undergo this phase and it can’t be fixed in just a snap of a finger. As they say, time only knows when everything will be alright. It takes time to figure things out on your own. It takes time as well to introspect and eventually heal. But the good thing is right now, I’m happy,” was her straightforward answer.

It’s been months since she and Benjamin broke up. If she will be asked as to what stage she’s in right now, the talented Kapuso songstress admits that she’s still on the healing part.

“For the past years, I’ve given so much to people and it wasn’t an issue for me. I’m like that basically. But then, you realize that you have to spare something for yourself. It’s for your well-being—physically, mentally and emotionally. At the end of the day, it’s important to take care of yourself,” she says.

She also adds that the experience helped her mature.

“Under this circumstance, you’ve got to make a decision. Happiness is a choice,” Julie Ann states.

Since she’s free at this point, some ask if she is ready to jump into a new relationship.

“I don’t think I can engage myself into something like that right now! I’m not looking for someone new. I want to focus with myself instead. There’s also my family and career which I’m very grateful for. I have an upcoming album and I have shows here and abroad. I simply want to be more productive this year.”

Speaking of work, many notice her team-up with Rayver Cruz as they do production numbers for their musical program Studio 7. It’s simply gaining following. Isn’t she bothered considering that Rayver is romantically linked with another Kapuso gem Janine Gutierrez?

“Well, first of all, I want to thank the viewers who like what we’re doing in Studio 7. For the fans of Janine and Rayver, I hope they won’t get mad at me. It’s just work. Besides, both of them are my friends. Rayver is like a big brother to me. Janine and I are good. So, there should be no cause for alarm.

Some quarters ask if there’s a chance for her and Benjamin to become friends after their break-up.

“I can’t answer it right now. I can’t tell,” ends Julie Ann.
