Gracing yesterday’s launch of the first Penong’s 5150 Triathlon in Ayala Triangle in Makati are (from left) Penong’s marketing officer Troy Requizo, race director Neville Manaois, liaison officer JJ Sarona, Penong’s founder Theresa Regis, Princess Galura, general manager of the organizing Sunrise Events, Inc., Penong’s CEO Vanessa Uy Santos, accounting manager Elizabeth Garcia and vice president of operations Henry Mahilom.

On the same day, the Go For Gold Sunrise Sprint will also be held.

Penong’s Barbecue Seafood & Grill makes its debut on a national stage by teaming up with Sunrise Events.

“We want to introduce Penong’s not just in the food industry but also in sports. I have four kids and two are seriously into triathlon. We want to market Penong’s through triathlon,” said Penong’s co-owner Ma. Teresa Regis on Wednesday at the launch of the event at the Blue Room of Tower 1 of the Philippine Stock Exchange, Makati. “This is an opportunity to show everyone, especially my children, that this event is not just focusing on selling barbecues but also promoting a healthy lifestyle. This is doing something for the good of everybody.”

Co-owner Vanessa Mae Uy Santos said they want to help the public become more aware of the importance of health and wellness while expanding their business.

“Being part of Penong’s ever growing family I personally advocate a healthy and active lifestyle. I see this partnership as an opportunity to show my support to my fellow athletes as well as those who are athletes at heart,” she said.

Other Sunrise Events-organized and produced events this year are the Century IRONMAN 70.3 Subic on June 2, the Regent Aguila IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines on Aug. 11, the Black Arrow Express 5150 Subic on Oct. 27 and the Sun Life Cycle PH in November.

Sunrise Events also welcomed Big Boss Cement as Presenting Sponsor of the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay.

Big Boss Cement VP Ishmael Ordoñez, who is himself a triathlete, said Big Boss Cement represents innovation and environment conservation by producing super strong premier cement that is eco-friendly.

“IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay will be a test of human endurance to be enjoyed in the surrounding nature which Big Boss Cement aspires to preserve through its products. It makes sense to partner Big Boss Cement with IRONMAN as both brands attest to the human will to endure and persevere,” said Ordoñez.

Sunrise Events likewise welcomed Philam Vitality—a unique science-obacked wellness program that rewards every individual who take steps towards healthy lifestyle —as Presenting Sponsor of Regent Aguila IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines.

“Supporting events like IRONMAN 70.3 Cebu is a great opportunity for us to partner with like-minded groups that promote wellness. Through this partnership, we are able to bring to life our brand promise of helping Filipinos live healthier, longer and better lives,” said Philam Life’s Head of Vitality Kats Cajucom.

The Olympic distance Penong’s 5150 Triathlon Davao includes a 1.5km swim, a 40km bike and a 10 km run. The Sunrise Sprint includes a 750m swim, a 20km bike and a 5km run.
