The Quezon City Council has approved a resolution adopting the Annual Investment Plan for 2019 to fund various programs and projects of the city, and the local government’s maintenance and other operating expenses.

According to City Resolution 7747-2019, introduced by Councilors Raquel Malañgen, Franz Pumaren, Godofredo Liban II, and Alexis Herrera, the City Council allotted the amount of P3.11 billion for the city’s AIP.

The AIP is a legal instrument by which a local government unit annually manages and financially supports its Local Development Plan (LDP) and Local Development Investment Plan (LDIP).

The AIP constitutes the total resource requirements for all programs, projects, and activities for the Fiscal Year 2019, including the annual capital expenditures and the regular operating requirements of the city government.

“It is imperative for the Sangguniang Panlungsod to adopt the Annual Investment Plan of Supplement Appropriation No. 1 for Fiscal Year 2019 of Quezon City,” the resolution reads.

The city government under Mayor Herbert Bautista proposed a budget of P21.5 billion for fiscal year 2019.

Meanwhile, to help ensure the safety and well-being of Metro Manila residents, the Quezon City government has committed to donating more funds to the Regional Peace and Order Council.

The Quezon City Council, through Resolution No. 7766-2019 introduced by Councilor Malangen, has authorized Mayor Bautista to grant P10 million in financial aid to RPOC-National Capital Region.

The grant is to help the council perform its mandate of crafting policies that promote peace and order in Metro Manila and provide venues for the convergence of stakeholders to address public safety concerns.

“The donation of the amount is necessary to promote and provide support to the Regional Peace and Order Council in the National Capital Region to attain its mandate and objectives,” the resolution reads.

In 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Bautista as RPOC-NCR chairperson.

Under Bautista’s leadership, RPOC-NCR has been cited as one of the best peace and order councils in the country by the President.

RPOC-NCR also hosted the 1st Peace and Order International Summit, attended by local and foreign chief executives representing 56 council members in the country and abroad.

In another move, the City Council passed an ordinance authorizing Mayor Bautista to sign a deed of donation on five motorcycle units for the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

City Resolution 7562-2018, introduced by Councilor Liban II, states the local government aims to provide assistance to the MMDA in delivering its basic services, such as planning, monitoring, and supervision within Metro Manila.

The QC government under the Bautista administration also has consistently cooperated with the MMDA in easing traffic congestion in major thoroughfares through its Department of Public Order and Safety.

Mayor Bautista is currently the chairperson of the Metro Manila Mayors’ Council, MMDA’s governing and policy-making body.
