“It has been such an honor to receive such positive response here in Manila so far. To see customers come in and spend hours long, hunting for their favorite books is truly heart-warming,” said Andrew Yap, founder of the popular book sale.

According to Big Bad Wolf Books, this year’s edition has seen a change in the demographics as there are more parents with children pushing carts at the sale.

Aside from selling books, the book sale helps advocate literacy especially among children by supporting young writers. The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale recently published Filipino author Arnold Acedera’s children’s book “The Bouncing Red Ball,” which tells the story of an adventurous young boy who went off to see the world accompanied only by a red ball.

Acedera, a Grade 12 architecture and design student, was diagnosed with dyslexia and Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), a form of autism. But it did not stop him from pursuing his dream to create this book.

“Any opportunity that comes your way should not be overlooked. What I would like to say to everyone is, despite any challenges you have, just focus on  your passion, and eventually you will find a way through any obstacle that you encounter,” Acedera shared during his book signing ceremony at the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale last week.

Yap said, “Arnold’s journey as an author will inspire other people to write and share their own stories. The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is a platform for disseminating these stories to a much wider audience.”

The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is open 24 hours daily until March 4.
