Bonifacio Stopover Corporate Center, an office building owned by the Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation (FBDC), recently snagged a gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council under its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The LEED® certification is a globally recognized standard of sustainability achievement that provides independent validation of a building’s quality and green features.

It assesses compliance to standards on energy conservation, water usage, air quality, building materials used and construction process, among others. Bonifacio Stopover Corporate Center (Shown here) earned the accolade because it minimized the operation of its elevators, lightings, and air conditioning units throughout the day; enhanced commissioning by checking and passing the equipment air emission; observed proper waste management through segregation and multiple recycle bins; managed water use by installing sensors to lavatories, urinals, and toilets; and provided alternative public transport access on site like the BGC Bus. “BGC is committed to designing and building sustainably,” said Christine Novera, FBDC manager for business development, property planning and office leasing. “We are honored to be recognized as one of the leaders in the green building movement and are enjoining others to do the same.”
