London—The full-service Filipino restaurant Romulo Café London is going head to head with the top businesses vying for the title ‘Best Bar or Restaurant’ in the 2018 Kensington & Chelsea Business Awards, which will be held on Oct. 18 at the Millennium Gloucester Kensington Hotel.

Romulo Café vies for UK’s ‘best bar‘

The family-owned Romulo Café was selected as a finalist on the basis of its ability to deliver great taste, good presentation, a variety of choices, great customer service and value for money.

Operated by Rowena Romulo and Chris Joseph, Romulo Café is in good company. Its fellow finalists include Hawksmoor Knightsbridge and Orrechino Italian, both listed in the Michelin Guide.

Rowena and Chris are hopeful their new menu of signature and tasting platos and platitos (sharing plates and tasting plates, respectively) will have caught the imagination of the judges and recognize a Filipino restaurant as the best in the royal borough.

Rowena Romulo said, “We’ll be at the awards flying the flag high for Filipino cuisine. This is where it’s being involved and participating that really counts,” Rowena Romulo said.

“Chris and I and all the Romulo Café team, including our Michelin-trained Head Chef Jeremy Villanueva, are doing our very best to educate people on what fine Filipino food tastes and looks like.

“We’re proud to be part of the lively Filipino Food Movement. To be recognized as one of the business champions and to be in the running for best restaurant in a borough as fantastic as Kensington & Chelsea speaks of the area’s diversity but also Romulo Cafe’s ability as a business to compete with the best.”
