Going into high gear: BAIC unwraps ‘dynamic duo’

It’s always nice to see fresh faces at socials.  New  attachments can get off to a good start and develop into a long lasting affinity.  The same goes  for new cars.  You see one that makes your pulse go on at a breakneck beat and you swear you just gotta have it.

BAIC president George Chua  makes a pitch  during the launching of the  “dynamic duo”,  BJ20 and  M50S.

When Bayan Automotive Industries Corp.  unveiled a pair of its latest vehicle models—the BAIC M50S MPV and the BAIC BJ20—at its flagship showroom in Makati City, the spontaneous reaction was exactly like that.  A sense of new confidence and instant affection for a vehicle whose understated style and technology have melded quite smoothly into a natural no-nonsense partnership.  To the guests at BAIC’s launch, the automotive industry has every reason to go into high gear once again with such cars.

Since 1958 when BAIC was established, it has prided itself on a confident pace, went about its undertaking, stuck to its guns without a flinch.  To drop names, it has Daimler, manufacturer of Mercedes Benz and Hyundai vehicles for a partner and has the old reliable Universal Motors Corp. always there to stand by it like a kindly godfather.

The BAIC BJ 20 was initially launched in2016 for the global market after its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2013.  It boasts refreshed design elements—a crossover sporty utility vehicle (SUV)—tailored for everyday driving pleasure and experience.  The sunroof makes it a fun riding for everyone.  Its exterior features a sleek design, classically boxy, and uncomplicated lines.  The seats are upholstered in microfiber leather and contoured for passenger support and driver comfort.  The fender and bumper have been extra toughened for a wrap-around impact safety.  It has a 215mm of ground clearance, the highest in its class, and large 225/55 tires on 18” alloy rims.  The BAIC BJ20 may not have been intentionally designed to scream on the freeway but with such refinements worked on it without sacrificing practicality, it makes a impressive presence that’s sure to get nods and repeated glances.  The BJ20 sells for  P1.148M and  P1.228M for the two editions.

Dreaming of a new class of vehicle to drive?  When “standard” cars get bourgeoise, get a family car.  Lay your eyes on the new BAIC M50s MPV, an update to the BAIC M20 three-row MPV.  Engineered for max performance to suit the most hostile highway network, the refinements, like the comfortable seats (7 to 8 passenger capacity with ample room for extra load at the back) and a sensible micro-fiber leather upholstery make it a true family car that will be, at some point in time, an heirloom for the next generation.

What’s more, BAIC promises the new car smell will stick for a long, long while.  Life is short.  Go for it. Happy driving.
