VICE President Leni Robredo on Wednesday endorsed the candidacy of her lawyer, Romulo Macalintal, to join the senatorial race in 2019.
She said Macalintal was in the shortlist of the opposition Liberal Party, where Robredo is the chairperson.
Macalintal is “very deserving,” she said.
“The [mere] fact that he is in the shortlist is a vote of confidence from me,” she said.
“All my lawyers know how difficult it is to fight the [legal] battle with [ex-senator Ferdinand] Marcos. That’s why we have to choose someone who will really fight for the truth,” she added.

She said the opposition trusted Macalintal and the others who would be in their shortlist.
But Macalintal said he had not decided if he would join in the senatorial race.
