At the LP’s National Executive Council meeting in Barangay Loyola Heights, Quezon City, LP president Senator Francis Pangilinan said the party would nominate the other nine candidates soon, saying they would launch a listening campaign to be called “Project Makinig.”

Pangilinan said the LP would formally present to Vice President Leni Robredo, its chairperson, its complete senatorial slate for finalization.

“We have more than enough to complete our slate,” he said, adding “we do not lack people who are principled and competent enough.”

Robredo, the party’s chairperson, said their first three candidates would show their excellence, conviction and dignity in public service.

She said these three came from families who had exhibited heroism.

For his part, the former President said, “it was the opposite picture of what he had left when his term ended in 2016.”

Tañada said he would be the voice of the youth and the marginalized.

Diokno said his mission would be to ensure that Filipinos would have access to justice. He said it was time Filipinos made justice a national agenda.

Pangilinan talked about the three Ls he said the LP espoused—Laylayan, Laban and Love.

He said the marginalized or those in the fringes of society (laylayan) needed help as they faced the high prices of goods, lack of jobs and unsafe environment.

In the midst of hatred on social media, Aquino said what the people needed was love for the country and for one another.

The LP, he said, would continue to fight (laban) for the rights of the people, especially the poor, for decent lives and better future.

Pangilinan rallied the LP members nationwide to ensure the victory of the LP candidates.

“The old, tired ways will not do and must be discarded. We must be willing to do things differently. We must be willing to try and test new methods never employed before. We must be willing to rise to dare, to change the way we do things if we are to inspire our citizens to purposeful action,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos expressed gratitude for the support that gave her a slot in Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan survey on the 2019 senatorial elections released recently.

Women dominated the top 5 of the Pulse Asia survey conducted from Sept. 1 to 7 that sampled 1,800 registered voters 18 years old and above.

Marcos is “thankful to the respondents interviewed in the research whose trust and confidence land her in the 7th to 11th place,” indicative of her good chance at winning if the elections were held during the survey period, her office said in a press statement.

Marcos said this survey result inspired her to work doubly hard for nation building and in looking for solutions to end poverty and address high prices, lack of economic opportunity, crimes, and women empowerment.

Marcos said she was thankful for the support considering that this came even as she had yet to formally announce she would run for senator in next year’s polls.
