Kelsey Merritt, a proud Filipino-American, is set to conquer the runway.
Merritt, who has always been vocal about her love for the Philippines, has been officially introduced as Victoria’s Secret model, an iconic lingerie brand, as one of its runway models on Wednesday.
Merritt thus became the first Filipina to walk in the highly-coveted Victoria’s Secret fashion show, which in the past has featured the likes of Tyra Banks and Miranda Kerr.
“It’s a dream come true for Kelsey Merritt!” read a post on the official Instagram page of Victoria’s Secret, which carried a photo of the Filipino-American in tears after finding out that she is now part of the brand’s fashion show this year.
Merritt also appeared on Victoria’s Secret “runway Q&A” in its IG where the Fil-American was asked about her special talents or skills, favorite food and television shows, her style icons, and her pet peeves.
Merritt’s advice to aspiring models? “Dream big and dream hard, and work hard. Don’t stop pushing yourself to your limits… Don’t look at others’ success, don’t worry about others, don’t compare yourself to others. Just focus on yourself and you’ll go far.”
