Manila 6th District Rep. Sandy Ocampo launched the Manila Masterplan Movement which aims to address the inadequate infrastructure in the capital city.

Ocampo said Manila was the nation’s most densely populated city, and the fourth most densely populated city in the world, based on the report of the World Economic Forum.

Ocampo said the movement would be a comprehensive long-term initiative to address Manila’s most urgent and chronic issues through urban planning and strategic infrastructure rehabilitation and development.

An architect by profession, Ocampo studied urban planning at UCLA. “I can’t do this alone. This is why we are launching the Manila Masterplan Movement. Through this social activism, we will harness the energy, goodwill, and vitality of all those who love Manila.  We hope you will support us through the days ahead,” he said.

The extreme overcrowding in the city has resulted in a host of problems such as traffic, crime, poor sanitation, pollution, difficult waste management, flooding, vagrancy, and many other problems that are the bane of all other highly urbanized areas of the world.

“We need a masterplan that will rehabilitate roads and other essential structures, preserve and restore historic and heritage sites, and design and redesign Manila for optimum living,” Ocampo said.
