PCOO commits blunder yet again

Social media has uncovered another apparent blunder by the Presidential Communications Operations Office.

The mistake? Someone put thephrases “d ko alam eh” and “d ko din alam” (I don’t know either) instead of the telephone numbers for the Maritime Industry Authority and the Office for Transportation Security on the directory numbers section of the Freedom of Information website.

A Twitter user with the handle @peepaubau shared screenshots of the error and a video of himself while viewing the FOI site—an initiative of the PCOO, which has drawn criticism over several gaffes during the Duterte administration.

The official Twitter account of the agency, @FOI_ph, then told @peepaubau that it had “since removed the error you have identified. We appreciate your continued support as we work towards improving our services in providing you more up-to-date and accurate information through FOI Philippines.”

Just last month, the PCOO mistakenly referred to the country Norway as “Norwegia” as its ambassador paid a courtesy call to President Rodrigo Duterte at Malacañang, drawing the ire and mockery of both Filipino and foreign netizens.

The government communications arm also erroneously named the late National Security Adviser Roilo Golez as “Rogelio” and Senator Sherwin Gatchalian as “Winston” in separate occasions.

Even during the President’s third State of the Nation Address on Monday, the agency wasn’t spared — a photojournalist scolded the PCOO for failing to properly attribute a photo that was used during the Sona broadcast.
