Quezon City teachers gain lapel microphones for better teaching

Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte has distributed 3,358 lapel microphones to public school teachers in a city-wide campaign to assist them in teaching more effectively to a growing number of students.

“The [distribution of] lapel [mics] is not my concept. This is what you have asked for during a consultation with the teachers. I have asked you what else do you need,” Belmonte said in a speech to the teachers.

A total of 1,262 lapel microphones were distributed to junior high school teachers, and 2,096 lapel microphones to elementary school teachers from District 1, 3 and 4.

The vice mayor also reiterated her pledge to complete other items on the “wish list” of public school teachers.

“I owe you. The principals know that. You have asked for electric fans at the classrooms,” she said.

Belmonte, who is running for mayor in next year’s elections, said she would be giving out a sound system, too.

She reminded teachers to stay patient since the “promised” equipment would still undergo bidding, but the sound systems requested may already be distributed by Christmas.

As presiding officer of the city council, Belmonte assured teachers that the council is committed to assisting teachers by also raising the allowances they receive from the local government.
